Bagulamari Jute Craft Cluster, Dhubri
Bogulamari Jute Craft cluster was taken up under the MSE-Cluster Development Programme of the Ministry of MSME primarily to develop the jute craft in the cluster and providing all the needed handholding support to the artisans to make a sustainable living out of the Jute activities. This area is one of the large pockets in Assam where jute is widely grown and the local artisans are having expertise in the jute activities.
The cluster is located approximately at a distance of 1.5 Km from the Dhubri town, the main headquarter of Dhubri District. This cluster presently covers two villages namely, Bogulamari and Aironjongla. The total number of household units in Bogulamari involved in jute activity is eighty (80) and that in Aironjongla is Fourty seven (47). There are around 400 artisans who are earning their livelihood by selling various jute based handicrafts items. The main advantage of the cluster is the availability of raw materials and the basic skills of making jute based handicraft products. Some of the major existing products of the cluster include bags, hats, doormats, wall hanging, toys etc.
